Ms. Ceci's Journal
A Norse of a different color
Right now
15th-Jun-2016 03:53 pm - Welcome to ceci2176's livejournal!

I'm Ceci, a thirtysomething living in the northeastern part of Sweden, and this is my livejournal.

Here I post personal stuff, fandom stuff (mostly about actors, movies, books and TV series I fancy - especially if it has disability/owie content), religious stuff (I was a Bahá'í 1992-2008) and rant and rave about life in general (though I'm mostly positive, or so I've been told) as well as sometimes share pictures and fiction.

I do reflect on life as a person with a disability (mainly spina bifida), and/or life as a bisexual and ftm transvestite from time to time, and in those (and all other) matters I can voice my opinion quite strongly. This is something that I sometimes also do in comments to other people's journal entries. While I may come across as a rude know-it-all, my objective is always to help other people.

My posts are mostly public, but I do make some friendslocked posts. If you don't want to miss out on any of that, you will have to friend me. When you've done so, please make a comment to this post, and I might friend you back.

If I don't, please try to not take it personally. It might be a language problem, or I may find that I don't have enough in common with you to friend you.

The same goes for defriending. If you were defriended and want to know why, e-mail me.

Okay, that's enough of that. *hopes for comments*

25th-Jul-2008 12:52 am - Well, SQUEE!
I've recieved an apartment offer! Yay! \o/ Of course, I'm not the only one who got the offer, but still! I need to call the guy who lives there asap (though not now, since it's almost 12.45 am) to go and look at it. It doesn't have a balcony and is on the second floor (or third, depending on how you count floors), but it's an apartment, you know? SQUEE!

Also, The Dark Knight was good. There were some things I wasn't happy with, but for the most part I was all SQUEE (the fact that the cashier guy called me "mister" even though he doesn't know about [info]devinlind made my evening even before I saw the movie)! And I was among the first people in Sweden who saw it, too! There was a problem with the movie reel, but they fixed it within minutes and I'm still very pleased. I MIGHT see it again, depending on when I get the money for the house (I should have gotten the down payment already) and how much it is....

But now, I think I'll go to bed because I'm sleepy and a tad achy.

23rd-Jul-2008 03:20 pm - The winner takes it all!
I just got a call from Meter Television - one of Sweden's largest production companies. I've won tickets to the taping of the Swedish version of The Singing Bee! Unfortunately I won't be elected to take part in the actual game show and I have to pay for the plane ticket myself, but still OMG! I'll go to the taping on August 21, and then there's also a chance of winning a fancy jacket. :D

23rd-Jul-2008 10:54 am - Well, color me

Your result for The Color Code Test...

Color Code: YELLOW: The Jester

Here is the basics: For a more in depth analysis, I suggest you look up the Color Code, and take a more intensive test.

YELLOW MOTIVE: FUN

YELLOW NEEDS: To look good (socially), To be noticed, To be praised, Approval from the masses.

YELLOW WANTS: To hide insecurities (loosely), Happiness, Freedom, Playful adventure.

SUMMARY: Yellows value play. They consider life to be a party, and they're hosting. Yellows welcome praise. They need to be noticed. Little else improves a relationship with a Yellow more than praise. They need emotional connections. They often appear so nonchalant that peope think they don't care about anything. Nothing can be further from the truth. They need a great deal of attention. They need to be stroked. They enjoy touching. To them, physical contact is often the most direct, comfortable intimate connection. Yellows want to be popular. They like to be center stage. Friendships command a high priority in their lives because popularity answers one of their basic needs - the need for general approval. Yellows like action. They are easily bored, and seek adventure. They can never sit still for long, so they choose friends who, like them, refuse to allow the "boring details" get in the way of the most important thing in life - play.

Take The Color Code Test at HelloQuizzy

Yup, this was accurate (too bad it wasn't green. But yellow's a nice color too). A bit scary, that.

Man, today I wish I had a laptop so that I could sit outside and work...I also wish the health station wasn't closed until mid-August due to vacations because I found a suspicious-looking mole on my scalp that I want a Dr to look at, and while they're at it they can check out my beauty mark too.

But now my back porch beckons! :)

The house is all tidied up for the inspection tomorrow, and I'm currently at Mom's since we're going to see Mamma Mia later. She has the soundtrack on repeat and hasn't even seen the movie yet! YAY! \o/

Then on Saturday I've decided to go to PDOL, our music festival. :D

Man, apart from my top beeing a tad too snug over the belly I'm truly having a fantabulous day today! If you need some cheering up or just some love, comment and I'll give it my best shot. :)

How well do I know my friends anyway? )

*hmm* I need to interact more with you guys. I have free texts for 30 days, so if you LJ message me your cell number I could send you something.

18th-Jul-2008 11:11 am - o.O
Does it ever happen to you that the phone rings right after you woke up? It happens to me all the time, including this morning. It actually took me 30 seconds to get through my sleep-foggy brain who I was talking to! *g* It was I (though for some reason I first thought it was H), giving me details on the exhibition we're doing together. She's coming by to pick up my paintings tomorrow! :D Since the old windmill where the exhibition is isn't wheelchair accessible I can't really go there, but I still want to showcase my paintings. Is that weird?

One thing that also borders on the weird/scary/ridiculous is coming up with SNL skits in your sleep. *jots it down anyway*

When I checked my inbox this morning I had TWO apartment offers - one is for an accessible apartment that's available from October 1! Keep your fingers crossed?!

Now I need to get some work done...man, I missed working like this even though it's a bit difficult!

17th-Jul-2008 09:35 pm - I knew there was a reason for hanging on
My uncle's buying my ride mower for 1,000 SEK ($167)! Yay! Dad, farmor, my aunt and uncle were just here and he wanted to buy it. It's not like I could say no! But when Dad asked me how much I wanted for one of my original paintings, I told him 15,000 SEK! *g*

Today I've worked on the translations (loads of work still to be done...and I have less than two weeks to finish!), watched SNL (no news there) and did a little bit of guilty pleasure writing

Tomorrow I need to call the dentist, because I've begun to feel pain in the chipped tooth. Could be phantom pain, but still. *meh*

But now I'm gonna try and find something to eat....

16th-Jul-2008 11:23 pm - This post is brought to you by the letter "Oooooh"
Happy birthday, [info]medie!

I hope you're having a great day! :D

Also a very happy birthday to Will Ferrell! I've spent most of the day watching SNL, and I doubt that'll change anytime soon. I have quite a crush on the same-sex couple from New Jersey, The Barry Gibb Talkshow is one of the greatest things on TV, and my love for Justin Timberlake and Hugh Laurie's really strong now.*g*

Me, I managed to chip one of my front teeth today. O.o I chewed into a nectarine, and it wasn't quite ripe...and a teeny-tiny chip of my left (to the right in this pic, obv.) front tooth came off. :(

While I doubt it's not as visible as I thought it is (though my front teeth used to be in alignment horizontally), it's kind of uncomfortable (it's rough and...weird) and I might just talk to a dentist about it later.

When Roachie and I arrived at my place this afternoon, there was an old man with a walker walking around on my front lawn! We were a bit creeped out, but I decided to talk to the man just in case he had gotten lost (there is a retirement home in my neighborhood), and it turns out he was interested in buying my house.... O.o

Note to self: grape-flavored KoolAid is GROSS. *makes face*

I've been asked to translate over 4,000 phrases into Swedish for a software company abroad. I need to be done by July 31, so I'll get started on it tomorrow morning. While it's only a one time thing it's experience, which is never wrong. :)

But now it's time for some more SNL.

15th-Jul-2008 07:08 pm - There's always a silver lining....or so they say
If it wasn't for Mamma Mia and SNL I don't think I would have made it through this afternoon and evening without going nutso. Not that anything specific has happened, but the lack of things happening isn't helping me feel better about what's going on in my life at the moment....

My connection's misbehaving, so I unplugged my landline, just so you know.

And I'd just like to go on record to say that I wasn't expecting that, [info]orion2303, and that I really appreciate it. *smooches*
okay...ish [orion2303 - NO STEALING!]
14th-Jul-2008 09:56 pm - Mamma Mia!
I decided to see this movie tonight, and OMG! It's absolutely fabulous! :D

Stealing the notes from devinlind because I can )

I really, really think you should see it. And PLEASE sing along because it makes it all so much more fun! :D

Now I'm thinking of going to bed, because I woke up at 4.30 and haven't slept since (and Roachie and I faught four wasps today, which was very straining and scary)....

14th-Jul-2008 06:00 am - "Well I want to taaaaaalk to you..."
It's been ages...and I feel like the world's moved way too fast lately (which might be who I can't seem to sleep this morning).

My house has technically been sold to a former classmate of mine (there was another person interested but she wanted to wait at least a month with bidding). The pre-sale house inspecition is next week, and then a couple of days later I should get a 10% hand payment unless he pulls out (which I really hope he won't)...good thoughts are welcome since I'm flipping out!

I have to move out by September 1, and I have no idea where to stay. I need to talk to all the housing companies, and pronto.

Because of my decision to take the bid, get the sale over with as soon as possible and to try and get an apartment in town there's currently some family drama, but I hope it'll blow over soon (about those good thoughts, people? Keep 'em coming).

Roachie's been staying here for a couple of days, which is one of the reasons why I haven't updated. I don't know why having people staying with me makes me not update...any thoughts?

Also, feel free to let me know what's going on in your lives, I feel out of the loop!

I leave you with one of the greatest talkshows ever:

There's one more episode, but I can't seem to find any embeddable ones out there....

8th-Jul-2008 11:03 pm - Just a little update
Just wanted to say that I've been in contact with the real estate agent. There's a woman interested in looking at the house and she will be here tomorrow afternoon. If she decides to pull out, the other bidder will buy the house for 295,000. So it's close! :D

Roachie's here and we're watching movies (which I'll tell you more aobut later), but I just wanted to give a short update. :)

OMG I just got a text message saying that there's an online bid on my house! EEEEE!!!

Here's to hoping I'll get more text messages throughout the day, but if I don't that's fine too.

7th-Jul-2008 11:40 pm - A day in the life of Ceci
I wondered if I could have picked a more boring day to do this, but then I realized that this was a pretty normal day for me, so what the heck.
